Baby Shower

Last weekend I went to North Carolina for my sister’s baby shower. Before I left, I couldn’t resist taking pictures of the flowers in our front garden.

The hit of the weekend was Alex, our (currently) youngest nephew.

This is how the weekend went, from his point of view...

I’m a curious kid, and I saw this shiny metal bowl with stuff in it, so I went to explore. First I stuck my finger in it. I licked my finger and it tasted pretty good. It kinda tasted like the stuff I swim in at the Brooklyn YMCA. So figured I could probably try swimming in it.

That didn’t really work the way I had hoped. I kinda don’t like this feeling…but I don’t really want to get up either.

I got all cleaned up and went to play outside...but I hate the grass. I'm a city boy, what can I say? Just look at how my toes curl up when I crawl on the grass!

I love my cousin Sully - he's really fun to play Frisbee with.

THE SHOWER
On Saturday I went to my aunt Gaby’s baby shower. Nothing like being surrounded by 30 women – I was a little intimidated by all the estrogen, so I just hung out with my Pa-T.

Once I looked in the mirror and realized how handsome I am, I was ready to hang out with the ladies.

There was one little lady in particular who I liked.

My aunt Gaby and uncle Ty look really good together, don’t they?

My aunt Chich made my future cousin, McSqueezy, a cute bib.

Here are some of the other ones that I liked:

Gaby really enjoyed all of her presents.

My aunt Chich made some yummy cupcakes, and my Abu made some cute booties as party favors.

It was a really long day...and I was happy to get ready for bed.

Too busy to post!

I've been really busy at work, so I haven't had a chance to create any new posts. Sorry! I'll post a new one as soon as I can.

In the meantime, enjoy a picture of Wingnut drinking from the sprinkler:

Visiting the Atlanta Zoo

Today we went to the Atlanta Zoo with my sister-in-law's family. It was our first time at the zoo, and I'm glad we went. Overall, we thought it was a pretty good zoo. It would've been nice if it had been a little sunnier and warmer out, but what can you do?!

The flamingo exhibit is at the entrance to the zoo, and I was amazed how much they look like pink lollipops when they're sleeping:

We walked through the African Plains section of the zoo, which houses the meerkats, lions, giraffes, black rhinos, zebras, and gorillas.

The lions were really fun to watch - especially the two young ones who kept playing and fighting with each other.

How sweet is this?!

The next exhibit housed the giraffes, ostriches, black rhinos, and zebras. It was cool, but the animals were really far from the fence, so we couldn't see them quite as well.

The gorillas were pretty amazing to see up close:

We saw some cool birds in the Tree House exhibit, and then moved on to the Asian Forest exhibit.

The Asian Forest section housed:

  • orangutans (look closely at the second guy - that's his face all smushed up in the dark area of the picture - so weird!)

  • world of reptiles

(water drops on snake skin)

  • pandas

  • and tigers

Most importantly, we learned that the Asian Forest houses a Chinese Wingnut...?

Ohh...that Chinese Wingnut:

We finished out by visiting the kangaroo exhibit and petting zoo...

...and ended the day watching two elephants fighting in the African Plains exhibit (the elephant in the picture was the bully).
